Story Telling

Gulangyu Island - quiet walks

Story telling is at the heart (or art!) of a photography. It is necessary to capture the attention and let the mind flow away a minute and create a memorable universe.

This is what makes the difference between a nice picture and a memorable picture. You need to think about your picture like a novelist, building the key elements of a good book in it. The audience/the Key point/the conflict/the hero/the Adversary and finally the resolve. Of course you should not capture in the photo all these elements, but you should let the mind of your viewer go to them. From a photographic standpoint what you really want to capture is the resolve and for that you need to click at the peak of the action.

In this picture they are multiple possibilities, following the main character with the lady in red, or start thinking about the lady in the glass reflection. Both obviously are in a break, one from her daily work the other on holidays.

Don’t hesitate to comment and add-on. Story telling is also about discussion :)

Little Tech Talk

I used my Leica SL-2 and my Apo-Summicron 90mm at f2.0 - this lens is absolutely magical for street and portrait compression is nice but bokeh just detach anything from the background !
